Safe School Initiative

The Safe School Team continued to work on collaborative discipline procedures with our school districts and we maintained a positive relationship with the SRO we share with the Oil City School District. Late in the 2006-2007 school year we submitted our school safety program to PDE and updated all related Memorandums of Understanding that we are required to have with local law enforcement and related agencies. Also, there was no increase in the number of incidents we reported on the PDE’s Violence and Weapons report, PDE-360 compared with the 2005-2006 school year. Worth noting is that our First Aide Provider reported numerous student visits during the year for a variety of minor cuts, bruises, and visits relating to sicknesses, which further emphasizes the importance of this function.
Curriculum Development

During the 2006-2007 school year, the process for developing curriculums for all fourteen of our secondary program instructional areas was once again validated through our ISO 9001:2000 Quality program. As mentioned before in this report, our curriculums are up-to-date as far as our career and technical competencies are concerned, but it is Text Box: important that we integrate PDE’s specific academic and career and work standards into them within the next two years. This may involve the setting aside of some additional financial resources to assist the faculty and administration in completing this mandate. State subsidies are dependent upon the completion of this integration, so our completion of this process is of extreme importance. NOCTI standards remain the primary standards currently used to track student achievement and evaluate our school. Other standards that we continue to practice in varying degrees include A+ certification, numerous Microsoft certifications, State P.N. licensing, State Nurse Aide Certification, CDL, AWS, ETS, NIMS, ASE, and the State Board of Cosmetology licensing process.
