Community Relations

The staff of the Center continues to build strong community relationships. Center employees and students participate in a number of community service projects, which this year included two major projects for the City of Oil City, the sidewalk project near the Veterans Bridge and various work at Hasson Park by our Natural Resources Department.  Our active participation in and allegiance to our advisory committees continues to be a vital link to the local community. We continue to be a full TeamPACareerlink partner, are active in a number of local economic development and workforce investment boards and committees; and, work very diligently to fulfill our mission of  supporting regional economic development through the
delivery of quality technical training programs  in the Venango, Forest, and southeast Crawford County area.

A total of 1256 youth and adults participated in the quality training programs offered by the Venango Technology Center during the 2006-2007 school year. This represents a

Adult Program Statistics

 

Our fully NLNAC accredited, post-secondary Practical Nurse Training Program had another excellent year, training 31 students in this health occupation field and the DuBois Business College collaborative Clinical Medical Assistant program had 6 enrollees in its first unsubsidized year of operation.  There were 2 adult students enrolled in specialized day school skill training at the center this past year. Adult evening school numbers equaled 270, up from 156 a year ago.  150  individuals participated in our G.E.D. program, up from 128, and  88 were enrolled in the New Choices, New Options program that operated at the VTC, the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, and Warren, PA, up from 64 last year.  NC/NO also provided career education services for 190 secondary students.  We continued the PA State Auto Inspection Program, also.  This makes a grand total of 545 adults from our area who received training services from the Center during the 2006-2007 school year, up 22.2% from the 446 trained during 2005-2006.  The 2006-2007 total adult education enrollment number is one
