What is a Licensed Practical Nurse? A licensed practical nurse is an important member of the health care team who provides patient care under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse, a physician or a dentist.
Where do Licensed Practical Nurses Work?
The program is one academic year in length, from August to June. Approximately 55% of the time is spent in clinical practice and 45% in the classroom. Clinical experience is received at several local health care facilities. Graduates take the State Board of Nursing Licensing Examination for Practical Nurses.

Admission Requirements and Application
Tuition for the 2007-08 school year is $9,250. There are additional costs for books, uniforms, supplies and insurance. Many students enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program are eligible for financial aid programs such as PELL grants and PHEAA loans. Call our Financial Aid Advisor for more information. * Final acceptance is contingent upon a physical exam stating that the applicant is able to undertake the training of this program and a criminal record background check that does not contain prohibitive offences.
About the Practical Nursing Program at the Venango Technology Center The Venango Technology Center Practical Nursing Program was founded in July of 1966 and was originally operated by the Oil City Area School District. In July of 1968, responsibility for the Practical Nursing Program was transferred to the Venango Technology Center (formerly the Venango County Area Vocational-Technical School.) The program continues to operate in this facility. The Practical Nursing Program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and is fully approved by the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners. Refund Policy The Venango Technology Center adheres to the refund policies required of schools participating in Federal Student Financial Aid (Title IV) Programs.
