American Welding Society41st Annual Weld-OffEvery year the Welding Technology Class from Venango Technology Center enters the American Welding Society's Annual Weld Off in the Pittsburgh District. This year three (3) Seniors and (2) Students from the CCAC Venango College class competed in the 41st Annual Weld-off at the Steamfitters Local # 449 Training Center in Harmony, PA on 03 December 2021.The competition consists of welding V grooves in both the vertical up (3G) and the overhead position (4G). Once their plates have been welded they go through "Visual Inspection" and if they pass they are sent to X-ray inspection. Normally the X-rays are not completed until February time frame.Those that participated are - From the Welding Technology Class: Matt Woolcock (CHS) and Dakota Woolcock (CHS). Those participating from CCAC Venango (Community College of Allegheny County): Alex Tafoya (CHS) and Draven Chapel (OCHS).The results and the awards dinner will be held February 08, 2022 at the Steamfitters Technolgy Center in Harmony, PAFront Row: Draven Chapel and Alex TafoyaBack Row: Matt Woolcock, Dakota Woolcock, Cam Crocker and Mason BrownThe competition consists of welding V grooves in both the vertical up (3G) and the overhead position (4G).
