• What is the cost of the program?

Most people wonder "what will school cost me?" and "how can I pay for it?".

The Practical Nursing Program is a cost-effective way to become a nurse!  Please CLICK HERE to view a document that contains the detailed program cost and the typical student's grant and loan eligibility amounts. Three years worth of data is provided.

In addition, the financial aid definition of cost of attendance includes the cost of food, transportation, federal loan fees, miscellaneous expenses, travel expenses (at the current IRS reimbursement rate) that a student may incur, in addition to the cost of tuition, supplies and fees that you would pay directly to the school. CLICK HERE if you are interested in seeing these estimates.

In order to meet the cost, the student has a variety of options.

How can I pay for my schooling?

Grants and scholarships provide funding for your schooling that does NOT have to be repaid!

Pell Grants (maximum program amount for qualified students is $11,093).  This is based on your FAFSA EFC (Expected Family Contribution)

PA-TIP Grants (maximum program amount for qualified students is $6,000).  If you qualify for the Pell Grant, you should apply for this grant!

Local Healthcare Agency Scholarships: You're already in the driver's seat! Healthcare providers in our community would love to have you work for them before and while you attend our program! An independent student typically can take up to $15,770 in loans through the program as long as they qualify and are not in default.

A dependent student typically can take up to $9,143 throughout the program if the above conditions are met. In addition, their parents may qualify to take out additional loan money in the form of a Parent Loan (PLUS).

Alternative Loans: Students can also request funding from Alternative Loan sites if the grants and federal financial aid do not cover their cost of attendance.

How do I get the financial aid process started?

    1. Complete your FAFSA form at studentaid.gov  When completing the form, please be sure to include our school code 016298, and use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when offered.  Parents of students who are under the age of 24, not married, do not have children or other dependents, who are not an orphan or ward of the court, and not a veteran or active duty member will need to complete parental information on the FAFSA form regardless of whether their student physically lives with them or not.

    2. Complete entrance counseling at studentaid.gov

    3. If you get a letter from the school indicating that you are selected for verification, please closely read and complete the enclosed worksheet and return the worksheet to the school as quickly as possible!

    4. After you are processed, you will receive a letter that lets you know how much you are eligible to receive in Pell grants, subsidized loans, unsubsidized loans, and parent loans.

*If you have additional questions, please contact the program at (814) 493-6590.
